Dr. Teri Ly
La Clinica De La Raza at Children’s Hospital, Oakland
Dr. Ly and her family fled Saigon and became part of the international humanitarian crisis known as “boat people” after its fall. This journey, says Dr.Ly, fostered a deep passion for helping those less fortunate.
“I do not believe that any child should be denied care and all children should be entitled to optimal care regardless of their socioeconomic background” says Dr. Ly, “Since graduating from my Pediatric Dental Residency I have continued to work and serve the under served population. I've donated my time and services to institutions and schools and plan to continue to help organize and take part in mission trips to third world countries. I want to thank CDA for their generous grant in recognizing my continual commitment to the under served. This grant will allow me to continue my passion for treating those in need of care.”
Dr. Ly has her DDS from Columbia University School of Dental Medicine in New York. She continued on to do her post doctoral training in Pediatric Dentistry at Brookdale University Hospital in Brownsville, New York. Dr. Ly is currently practicing at La Clinica De La Raza at Children’s Hospital in Oakland serving a largely indigent population. More than 95% of the patients their receive government assistance. Aside from the dental aspect, she says, she enjoys interacting with a diverse ethnic population and learning about new cultures.
