Pediatric Oral Health Access Program

POHAP is a free training program that provides a sustainable increase in access to dental care by providing general dentists with increased skills and comfort level needed to treat young children, including children with physical and/or developmental disabilities. POHAP enlists general dentists who practice in underserved areas, treat uninsured patients and/or currently accept publicly-funded dental insurance programs. Prior to completing the intensive training course, participating dentists agree to routinely accept young children, including children with special needs, as well as provide free restorative treatment to a limited number children who have restorative needs and no ability to pay.

“I feel that POHAP is one of the most meaningful programs that has been offered to our members in a long time. It will make a true difference in our quest to raise pediatric oral health care awareness and services through California. At every lecture, I am honored to stand in front of an audience of dentists who have rededicated themselves to their patients, communities and profession. Giving up their precious time to learn new and innovative approaches to caring for our most needy children is truly heart warming. I applaud the CDA Foundation for their support of this very worthy endeavor.”
