In addition to donating a generous planned gift to the Foundation, Dr. Patel is proud to be a Friend of the CDA Foundation as demonstrated in his participation in the  Be A Friend campaign. The campaign goal is to increase the number of ‘friends’ in the gift club by using images of current friends. Look for Dr. Patel and many others at the upcoming Scientific Sessions in Anaheim.

Donor Spotlight: Sanjay Patel, DDS

The seeds of charitable giving are not planted at birth. The values that inspire giving are learned throughout a lifetime, nourished by the examples of others.

Sanjay Patel, DDS is a living testimony of this philosophy.

Growing up in India, his family often spoke about serving others and the fulfillment that brings. “There is a saying that roughly translates May you live in interesting times and may you leave a legacy. In essence, what it means is generosity is essential to having fulfillment in your life“, said Dr. Patel. “I truly believe that. I have seen this in my own life and others who have lead by example.”

Dr. Patel demonstrated his philanthropic spirit recently by donating a generous planned gift to the CDA Foundation. “Because I was so inspired by what the Foundation has accomplished I decided to leave a legacy gift by naming the Foundation as a beneficiary on my life insurance policy,” he said. Dr. Patel noted that since joining CDA in 1997, he has been encouraged and mentored by so many in CDA leadership and seeing those leaders involved and giving to the Foundation inspired him to follow suit.

Coming to America in 1988, Dr. Patel reflects that he had the desire to become a dentist and serve others. Dentistry, he says, has been good to him and his family, so deciding to give back was a natural progression on the path to living a full life and inspiring others along the way. “I do contribute to various charities and believe very deeply in philanthropy. I am so happy to be able to give back to our profession through the CDA Foundation, knowing that so many lives will be touched and changed for the better because of the Foundation’s programs.”

A planned gift to the Foundation, like Dr. Patel’s commitment, assures leaving a legacy. Focusing on methods of giving that endure and choosing an organization, cause or program that is close to your heart, enable you to preserve your values for future generations. A planned gift allows to you make a final gift after a lifetime of giving and in many cases, legacy gifts keep giving past your own lifetime.
