Dr. Newton Gordon, CDA Foundation Board of Advisor member, recently acquired seven new “Friends”…of the CDA Foundation, that is.
Be A Friend…Newton C. Gordon, DDS,MS
As chief of Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at San Francisco General Hospital Medical Center, Newton Gordon, DDS, MS has his hands full. So where does he find the time to tell people about the CDA Foundation?
Dr. Gordon serves on the CDA Foundation’s Board of Advisors, the Creating Smiles … Changing Lives Comprehensive Campaign cabinet, and specifically on the Friends of the CDA Foundation committee. Over the past year, the Advisors have been learning about the resource needs of the CDA Foundation and have enthusiastically signed up to help with the $39 million campaign.
Despite his extremely busy and demanding schedule, Dr. Gordon found the time to connect with colleagues to tell them about the CDA Foundation and the impact our programs are having in bridging the gap in oral health throughout California .
“Contributions to humanitarian projects should be a focus of professional life. Charitable giving and volunteering as a member of the advisory board of CDA Foundation is but one small aspect of my focus,” noted Dr. Gordon.
During the first BOA Friends Committee meeting, Co-Chairs Dr. Victor Hawkins and Dr. Mark Taira, challenged the members to recruit one new Friend prior to the next BOA meeting.
Dr. Gordon took the Friends Committee challenge seriously and asked several of his peers to join the CDA Foundation as Friends. Seven responded immediately. Dr. Gordon recruited one Gold Friend who contributed $10,000; one Silver Friend who donated $5,000;
two Bronze Friends who are giving $3,000 and $2,500; and three Benefactor Friends who pledged $1,000 per year over the next five years for a total of $35,500!
What’s next? Dr. Gordon has several other colleagues he has been in contact with regarding becoming a Friend of the CDA Foundation. “Now is the time,” says Dr. Gordon, “more than ever, people need our help. The need out there is increasing at a staggering rate.”
