Dr. Brian Scott, 2008 CDA President, is the first Friend to be recognized on the Web page. Dr. Scott says becoming a Friend allows the Foundation to continue and expand the work across California’s underserved populations.

Be A Friend Has Own Web Page!

The Be A Friend campaign is successfully raising awareness about the CDA Foundation and the Friends of the CDA Foundation annual gift club. To continue recognizing and honoring current and new Friends, we have created a Be A Friend page on the CDA Foundation Web site.

As many of you may recall, the Be A Friend campaign began at Spring Sessions, with 14 bigger than life size Friends of the Foundation images designed to direct attendees to the Member Benefit Center where they were given a Be A Friend candy bar and learned about the CDA Foundation programs and activities. Ambassadors, volunteer leaders who are the Foundation’s spokespeople for Friends, were on hand to talk about the annual gift club and the program it supports, the CDA Foundation Grant Program. The campaign continues at Fall Sessions in San Francisco as well as through the new Be A Friend web page on our CDA Foundation Web site.

The first Friend honored is Dr. Scott who has been a champion supporter of the Foundation and our efforts. Each month, the web page will feature a new Friend.

The CDA Foundation Grant Program that is funded by Friends of the CDA Foundation, offers up to $25,000 grants to community clinics and other nonprofit programs that increase oral health care. The Foundation receives more than $1,000,000 in requests annually for the grant program and is currently able to fund approximately 10 percent of requests. The Be A Friend campaign’s goal is to increase the number of friends and therefore increase the amount of funding given out to the various programs and services. Currently, there are more than 200 Friends of the CDA Foundation generously giving from $1,000 to $15,000 annually.  More than 84 percent of leadership is giving to the CDA Foundation, 58 percent are Friends.
