CDA Foundation Board of Advisors Holds Inaugural Meeting

The CDA Foundation Board of Advisors held their inaugural meeting on Friday, July 25 at CDA headquarters in Sacramento. CDA President-elect Carol Summerhays, DDS enthusiastically agreed to serve as Board of Advisors chair. “We had a great turn out at our first meeting of the BOA,” said Dr. Summerhays, “the energy and excitement was contagious. I think this speaks well of the dedicated and passionate volunteer leadership we have here.” More than 40 members attended including CDA President Brian Scott, who told the crowd, “This is how we impact oral health around California. The Foundation is what we are all about in spirit – thank you for your time and interest.”

At the meeting, Tom Wilson, the Foundation’s fundraising counsel from the consulting firm Campbell & Company, led a detailed discussion of the campaign, what is involved, and how to help. Attendees also received resource materials to support them as the campaign moves forward.

“At CDA, we’ve seen how volunteers have advanced our efforts, therefore increased involvement will further accelerate our progress” noted Dr. Summerhays. “The satisfaction you will get from seeing the campaign’s impact on underserved children, elderly and working families will undoubtedly make your efforts worthwhile.”

In preparation for the next meeting on September 19 at CDA Headquarters, attendees were asked to fill out a survey indicating their area of interest.  Based on those responses, committee assignments will be made and announced early September.
