The CDA Foundation presented its first Legacy Lounge at CDA Presents in San Francisco in September. Hosted by retired dentist Frank Brucia, DDS, the lounge offered a respite from the busyness of Presents, a place to reconnect with friends and current and retired colleagues and the opportunity to meet and speak with Bob Hoffman, planned estate giving expert.
Legacy Lounge Makes Its Debut at CDA Presents
Frank A. Brucia, DDS, hosted the debut of the CDA Foundation Legacy Lounge at CDA Presents in San Francisco on Friday, September 11 and Saturday, September 12. Thanks to support from Corporate Philanthropic supporter Waiting Room Theater, the Legacy Lounge was offered to retired dentists, current Friends of the CDA Foundation, and CDA Foundation Legacy Society members, as an oasis in the sea of activity that makes up CDA Presents.
Dr. Brucia and his wife Helen were the perfect hosts to the more than 100 people who took advantage of a spot to connect with colleagues, have a refreshment or speak with estate planner Bob Hoffman from Thompson & Associates. The Foundation offers the services of Bob at no cost to assess your estate planning.
During the course of the event, Dr. Brucia was honored for his more than 60 years of dedicated service to CDA as well as his sacrificial volunteer work.
BOB HOFFMAN
At the CDA Foundation, we know that your estate represents a lifetime of hard work, planning and sacrifice – and something even more important, your values. For most people, preparing to transfer their assets in a way that preserves integrity and initiative of their loved ones ranks as one of life’s great challenges.
That’s why we are pleased to offer the services of Bob Hoffman, senior vice president of Thompson & Associate. For more than 15 years, Thompson & Associates have been helping families make the right choices by providing them with options and opportunities that most had never heard of. Bob, a long time estate planner, can help you find solutions to questions like:
Do I have enough to live on for the rest of my life?
How can I leave the right amount, at the right time, to my heirs?
Is it possible to provide for my family and charity?
How much tax might I owe?
This valuable service is offered with no cost to you, and with no requirements that you make a gift to the CDA Foundation. We know that most people would like to be charitable if they can redirect assets otherwise lost to taxation toward their favorite charities. This process is not only free but also completely confidential. “Bob made us feel comfortable right away,” said Dr. La Juan Hall. “ He is very professional and presented the process in a very confidential fashion. He definitely open our eyes in regard to the tax savings. I would not hesitate to recommend Bob to my colleagues.” Newly wed Drs. Michael Schneider and La Juan Hall recently made the decision to make a planned estate gift to the CDA Foundation. They took advantage of the free estate planning services through the CDA Foundation and Bob Hoffman, who helped them understand that there are benefits to strategically planning philanthropically to make the most impact. More importantly, to assist them in determining what their joint values and aspirations are and how those as well as financial goals help to shape their giving. “Through an open discussion with Bob, we learned how to blend together our beliefs and values. It was a fascinating process and so important to make sure those things are congruent,” she added.
If you have a plan, Bob and his team may be able to recommend changes that could improve it. In fact, most of those who have worked with Thompson & Associates have existing estate plans, yet have been pleasantly surprised to find that Bob is often able to suggest improvements.
The CDA Foundation is privileged to have Bob Hoffman one day a month to help you get started planning or to review your current plan. He’s knowledgeable and easy to talk to. To schedule a time or to learn more, please contact Jennifer Stolo at 800.232.7645 Ext. 5374 or jennifer.stolo@cda.org.
