Donor Spotlight: HOD Attendees Donate More Than $175,000 to the CDA Foundation

Between the auction held during the President’s party, new Friends and a campaign pledge, the Foundation’s fundraising efforts proved to be a success over the course of the House of Delegates weekend, November 14-16 raising more than $175,000.

But, the success should not just be measured monetarily, said CDA Foundation Chair Lindsey Robinson, DDS.  “It’s amazing to me that some of our members are not even aware that our association has a nonprofit charitable affiliate. I really believe it’s evident that this is changing and we are making great strides in the Foundation’s visibility. The success of the Foundation’s efforts at the House of Delegates proved this to be true. Because the Foundation’s message is being more integrated into the overall CDA message, there’s a greater awareness of the Foundation and the significant impact its programs are having across the state.”

This year’s CDA President’s party at the House of Delegates to honor outgoing President Brian Scott, DDS featured both a live and silent auction that alone produced more than $120,000 in proceeds benefiting the CDA Foundation. Prior to the live auction, Dr. Robinson hosted a paddle warm-up activity and told a story about Tyler, a 10-year-old-boy who received significant restorative treatment through the USC Mobile Dental clinic. Tyler was referred to USC Mobile Clinic that was visiting Kaweah Delta Hospital thanks to a mobile dental grant from the CDA Foundation. Dr. Robinson then challenged the crowd to fund treatment for additional “Tylers” and successfully raised $15,000.

The additional funds generated for the grand total of over $175,000 were from 24  new Friends of the CDA Foundation, six Friend upgrades to a higher giving level and one individual $25,000 Creating Smiles… Changing Lives comprehensive campaign pledge. As one aspect of the Foundation’s annual giving program, Friends of the CDA Foundation was developed as a donor gift club starting with a $1,000 annual gift.  This gift club supports the CDA Foundation Grant Program, which offers grants to nonprofit community organizations whose focus is expanding access to oral health care.
