Application Guidelines

Eligibility for Scholarships
Qualified applicants: dental students, dental hygiene students (accepted to or in a DH program based in a California dental school) and international student dentists accepted to or enrolled at California dental schools. Applicants must be of Latino descent, and currently enrolled or accepted in a California dental school program. Recipients must be attending or have been accepted to a California dental school full time and be able to provide proof of fulltime enrollment. Applicants may receive scholarship funding more than once.

Policy on Awarding Scholarships
 Applicants will be notified by August 1. The maximum scholarship award of $1,000 is payable to the student’s California dental school university account. Awardees will be invited to and recognized at the LDC Annual Scholarship Awards Dinner meeting in the fall of each year.

Handling of Applications
Complete and submit your online application and all requested and applicable attachments (scan into appropriate file format to attach to application packet) during the open application period from January 1 through April 30.

Receipt of all applications will be acknowledged via an automated e-mail message following your application submission online. During the review of your application, LDC or Foundation staff may contact you for additional information.

Upon receipt, applications will be reviewed by the LDC Scholarship Advisory Committee and approved by the CDA Foundation Board of Directors. Once approved, recipients must sign a student agreement before scholarship awards are distributed. All information received in connection with a scholarship application will be regarded as confidential.

Thank You Letters
Recipients are encouraged to acknowledge receipt of their scholarship by writing a thank you letter. These letters should be sent to:
